Ashes to Beauty
Isaiah 61:3 says God consoles those who mourn and turns ashes to beauty.
In September of 2015, the Valley Fire in Lake County, California turned our beautiful mountain areas into ashes, we all mourned. But God started a project that would be beautiful.
One single email requesting a 10” square with an appliqued heart on it resulted in our receiving over 600 blocks from all across the U.S. and even a few from Canada. We were a wee bit overwhelmed.
These blocks would be turned into heart themed quilts for quilters that lost everything in the fire.
In a few short weeks 11 quilts were completed by Kerrie’s ThimbleChicks class and other worker bees to have them ready for a lovely Christmas Tea. Not all the quilters or workers bees could attend the tea but here a few photos of the afternoon.
Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who sent blocks, sewed, quilted, sewed bindings, made labels, sewed labels, donated supplies, donated dollars, prayed and supported it all. We love you. And the ladies receiving the quilts...well...I think you can guess.
Blessed and thankful, and agreed that it was indeed, a big hug from the heart.
